Originally from Halifax, Nova Scotia, Olivia is a fourth year undergraduate student at Concordia University, majoring in Art History. Her areas of focus within her degree thus far have centred around contemporary art and institutional art practices. These topics have piqued an interest in the curatorial aspect of art practices, as the narratives that exhibitions have the potential to create, through selection of artists and thoughtful display of art, can be equally as impactful as art on its own. Olivia will be operating as an intern for the SBC Gallery, assisting in research, communications, and organization of exhibitions. She is currently working as a research intern with our team.

Rodrigo D'Alcântara is a transnational and multidisciplinary Brazilian artist. He is currently a research fellow at the Interuniversity PhD Program in Art History at Concordia University (Montreal, CA). He holds a Master in Visual Arts from the School of Fine Arts at the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro (Brazil) and a Bachelor in Fine Arts from the University of Brasilia (Brazil), with an exchange program at the Universidad de Los Andes (Bogotá, CO). His theoretical and practical research, which brings out counter-hegemonic narratives from a syncretic and queer perspective, has been circulating internationally in countries like Argentina, Austria, Brazil, Belgium, Canada, Chile, France, Germany, Greece, Italy, United States, among others. He has artworks in the permanent collections of the Casa da Cultura da América Latina and the Museu Nacional da República do Distrito Federal. He has published in several academic journals such as RACAR, Revista Concinnitas, and Arte & Ensaios. His first booklet "Sensing Tupinambá Mantles: from colonial to contemporary Brazilian featherwork" will be published in 2022 by the Centre for Sensory Studies at Concordia University. He will be joining our team as Assistant Curator Intern.
