+ ABOUT THE EXHIBITION

As part of the public program of the exhibition NOUS/OTRXS, artist Martín Rodríguez will be joined by Stephen McComber, Chief at the Mohawk Council of Kahnawà:ke and traditional Haudenosaunee knowledge and seed keeper, and Ashley Lyons from Tkà:nios,  a community initiative which promotes Indigenous food sovereignty and traditional foodways through land-based learning.

Together, they will reflect on how their work in land stewardship and community resilience sustains cultural memory and fosters sustainable futures.

ABOUT STEPHEN MCCOMBER

ABOUT ASHLEY LYONS

Ashley Wahiaronkwas Morris Lyons is a Wolf Clan woman of the Mohawk Nation, and contributor to the Tkà:nios project- a grassroots initiative in Kahnawà:ke dedicated to revitalizing traditional foodways. She brings together intergenerational knowledge of foraging, growing, and harvesting to strengthen community connections to land and sustenance. Her role as a mother has inspired her to promote the continuation of traditional Haudenosaunee lifeways, so that they may be passed down to the generations to come. In collaboration with community members and partners, Ashley envisions Tkà:nios growing into a vibrant community food hub, one that nourishes cultural identity, supports food sovereignty, strengthens community and sustains future generations.
