Workshop with Pablo Sigg
25 November 2014, 5::30pm-9pm (reservation required
SBC Gallery of Contemporary Art is delighted to announce a workshop with filmmaker Pablo Sigg. The workshop will take place on Tuesday, November 25, at SBC Gallery of Contemporary Art, from 5:30pm to 9pm in collaboration with La Biennale de Montréal, BNLMTL 2014, L’avenir (looking forward).
The workshop will investigate the notion of the Beckett-actor. Does such a figure actually exist, in the sense of determinate performative postures and practices that (perhaps) make possible a new kind of actor or better, a "non-actor"? Sigg suggests Heinrich von Kleist’s charged text On the Marionette Theatre (1810) as a base for discussion and as guide for the workshop.
To reserve your place and for more information, as well as to receive a copy of the text, please call 514-861-9992. Space is limited. The workshop will be conducted in French and English, with whisper translation available on request.
Pablo Sigg is a Mexican filmmaker (1974) who lives and works in Mexico City. He has presented his work at the New Museum of Contemporary Art (2013), the Musée dʼArt Moderne de la Ville de Paris (2012), and at ltd los angeles (2011) among others. Pablo Sigg’s I, Of Whom I Know Nothing was an official selection of the international competition at the Marseille International Film Festival in 2014, where it received a special mention.
