UNDER THE MOON, WE DREAM
(OF DIFFERENT WORLDS IN THE ANTHROPOCENE)
As part of SBC’s public programming for Malena Szlam’s exhibition Infra—, we have invited researcher Jessica Mulvogue to explore the artists' body of work. In this audio piece, Jessica discusses how Malena invites the viewer to dream of different worlds in our present catastrophic era. Her films and photomontages allow us glimpses into vivid, vibrant worlds that exist beneath or on the margins of human perception, worlds that range from geologic earth to the moon to dreams.
Jessica Mulvogue recently finished postdoctoral research at the Collaborative Research Centre on Otium at the University of Freiburg, Germany. Her areas of interest include: environmental documentary and experimental film, climate change and catastrophe, petrocultures in Canada, and immersive and interactive cinema. Jessica obtained her PhD in Cinema and Media Studies at York University, Toronto.
