MAHKU
EXTENDED PROGRAM

We are delighted to announce the visit of artists Bane Huni Kuin and Pedro Maná from the Movimento dos Artists Huni Kuin collective. Their visit is part of a long-term collaboration between artist collective MAKHU, curator Daniel Dinato and SBC galerie d'art contemporain.

The artists will be in Montreal from July 5 to 30, 2023 for two projects aimed at creating hemispheric exchanges between the Huni Kuin community and various groups on Turtle Island.

These exchanges will take place through the public program Assi sheueiau / Mai Kemaname Kani / Echoes of Territories at the Ilnu Museum in Mashteuiatsh and the production of the mural Hawe Henewakame (The Great River) in the Mercier-Hochelaga-Maisonneuve borough as part of the Mural Art Program (MAP) with the support of the Ville de Montréal and the Ministère de la Culture et des Communications du Québec (MCC).

Both projects received generous support from the Canada Council for the Arts (CCA), the Conseil des arts et des lettres du Québec (CALQ) and the General Consulate of Brazil in Montreal.
