CALL FOR SUBMISSIONS
2023 RESIDENCY
Residency dates : June 5 to July 8, 2023
Application deadline : March 5, 2023
The BSC Gallery of Contemporary art's artist residency program, initiated in the early days of the pandemic, aims to support artists by providing a space, both physical and virtual, for research and experimentation, as well as production assistance to further the study of a field of interest defined by the artist.
For a period of 5 weeks, the resident will have access to various resources to accompany him/her/they in the development of his/her/their project. Thanks to our new partners at Atelier Circulaire and Atelier Clark/Clark Center, the artist will have access to these production spaces for printing techniques (silkscreening, intaglio, lithography, etc.) and woodworking, as well as technical support, according to certain conditions. We invite the artist to take over the gallery space, in order to present stages of development of the project for an opening to the public. In consultation with the artist, events or interventions of mediation with the public can be set up in order to introduce our audience to the artist's working practice and process. These can be multiple and varied: conversation, workshop, Instagram takeover, or any other form developed by the artist.
The SBC wishes to encourage racialized artists, Native artists, as well as artists with disabilities to submit an application.
