SUBMIT A PROJECT
Part of the mission of SBC Gallery of Contemporary Art is to contribute to the evolution and study of the practice of curating contemporary art. To this end, SBC Gallery regularly accepts proposals from independent curators or partners with various organizations. On occasion we also host resident curators. Please note that the Gallery does not accept artists' portfolios.
How to submit a curator proposal:
Apart from specific or themed invitations launched by the SBC, curators may, at any time, submit an exhibition proposal. Proposals are reviewed by the Planning and Programming Associate and evaluated on the basis of originality as well as relevance to contemporary art in Quebec, Canada and internationally. Decisions are also based on the Gallery’s financial means.
We welcome proposals for solo or group exhibitions, and we are equally interested in those that are monographic or thematic. In all cases, proposals must correspond to the Gallery’s mandate. The mandate can be found in the Information section of our website here.
Proposals that are submitted will not be returned unless they are sent with an adequately pre-stamped envelope, or otherwise arranged at the expense of the submitting individual or organization.
Proposals must include:
- A written description of the exhibition project.
- A CD or DVD containing a sample of 15 digital images.
- Description of the works: title, year of creation, materials, dimensions.
- An up-to-date CV (maximum two pages).
