Office Manager 

SBC Gallery of Contemporary Art, located in downtown Montreal, is a non-profit exhibition centre focused on contemporary art, culture and politics. We offer a diverse program of exhibitions, events, research and educational opportunities. Our mission is to present exhibitions and activities that address, in a critical manner, issues in contemporary art and culture as they pertain to current affairs locally and internationally.

 

The Office Manager reports to the Director/Curator.

 

The Office Manager’s primary responsibilities are:

 

Administration

 

  • General office management including liaising with Belgo building management and attending Belgo committee meetings;

  • General staff management including: staff scheduling, staff meetings, set up of new employees and interns, prepare employee performance reviews, prepare exit documents, provide reference letters;

  • Prepare artist contracts;

  • Prepare Emploi Quebec and OBNL grants;

  • Help with multi-year and project grants as needed;

  • Provide logistical support for annual Art Tour fundraiser;

  • Other tasks as needed.

 

Bookkeeping

 

  • Accounts payable and receivable, invoicing;

  • Payroll and government deductions;

  • Prepare financial reports and budgets as required;

  • Prepare and/or update governmental documents including registries and annual donation tax receipts;

  • Prepare quarterly documents for bookkeeper, including petty cash reports;

  • Work with external accountant to supply all necessary year end information for preparation of audited financial statements and filing.

 

Minimal Requirements for the Position

 

  • Bilingual- French and English (oral and written);

  • Computer skills, Microsoft Office and Quickbooks;

  • Proactive, very accurate and detailed oriented, highly organized, strong initiative;

  • Excellent communication skills.

Salary: $20-23/hour, commensurate with experience.
